Beta?

(Anna) May 10 2010
We’re in the process of re-thinking the structure of Ergofiction’s articles and issues. We’re also hoping to get a shiny new theme launched ASAP which will make everything a lot nicer over here. One day, we will be able to get rid of that silly beta sign. One day….

I’m the world’s worst planner and I am the world’s best procrastinator. I also attract computer crashes, preferably in combination with an external hard drive crash. When I first conceived of the magazine, September was designated coding month. I was without a computer for most of that month, and by then my last year at university started. So I fell badly behind schedule.

When I first conceived the magazine it was planned completely differently. The community changed and so changed the needs. I couldn’t decide on the format or the content so I fell even more behind schedule. And then everything clicked into place 2 months too late. But being the procrastinator I am I knew I shouldn’t change the date. Even though I realized not many people would remember the Big Plan I announced in the WFG forums, I knew that if I had changed the date I would put it on hold forever. Even though I had been dreaming about it for so long.

Sticking to the date has had its consequences though, the most important one being that this site doesn’t quite look like it should. For this I apologize.

That’s why I’m joining the cool kids and declaring December (and possibly the beginning of January) as Beta Month. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing however, in fact I see it as an opportunity. This is your chance, as an early reader, to press your stamp on the future of the magazine. Features you’d like? Issues you want covered? Articles you need written? Bugs you want destroyed? Sites you want featured? This is your chance to force them upon me. So please, go ahead and drive me crazy. I’m ready!

You can shout at me on twitter or mail me.
