Search Term Challenge: Vote!

Posted by A.M.Harte on Sunday, March 7th, 2010

I’ve run the Search Term Challenge four times now, and each time the entries have gotten better and better. And now, with the backing of a prestigious magazine like Ergofiction, is it really a surprise that we received stories of such quantity and quality?

As Issue 5 closes, only one thing remains: selecting the winners. And the results of this challenge are entirely in your hands. That’s right: feel the responsibility! Read the 14 entries, and tell us which three you think deserve the prize.

The choice is yours. Make it count.

March 14 2010: Voting is now closed! Head on over to the final post for a wrap up of the winners and to discover the identities of the authors!

How to vote

Simple! Pick your THREE favorites and click vote. Voting closes Saturday March 14th at midnight GMT so get your votes in before then!

Wait, you cry! How come I can’t see the results? Sorry, duck, but it’s far more exciting if the results are kept hidden. The winners will be announced Sunday, so hold tight until then.

Authors: Please don’t vote for yourself. Please also remember our rules about anonymity: do not tell others which story is yours. You are welcome to advertise the competition, but it’s more fun to keep things secret and fair!

Happy voting everyone, and may the best story win!

**EDIT: Warning — you cannot change your votes after you press submit. Be careful! Remember you can select up to three stories, but if you press submit having only selected two, you’ve blown your chance!**

  • Now that voting is over, I want to say how much I LOVED "Long Way Home." What a great story. Also "The Last Brother." I want to know more about those characters, a lot more. (So now you know I didn't write either of those...)

Am very excited to see how this turns out, although I have no idea whether my votes worked or not, with multiple people voting from the same computer. Some EXCELLENT stories in this batch, I've got my fingers crossed for two in particular.

The link to story #12 is b0rked, which I'd think puts it at a bit of a disadvantage...
  • ??? Thanks for notifying us, I'll check it out immediatly.
  • It's fixed now. Sorry for the inconvenience, it was a silly coding mistake.

I, too, only cast one vote, and it won't let me add more. *sigh*
  • Um...duh. I only voted once. But I totally voted for someone else, so I guess it's okay. ^_^

Good luck to all the entrants! I'm amazed at all the great stories that came out of the same set of keywords. Just incredible results, and choosing a favorite was damned hard.
  • Oops! If you resubmit the votes it might change your answer? You don't have to pick three in any case -- even just casting the one vote is fine!
  • Aaaargh, even had we been allowed 6 choices, that still would have been difficult!

I can't wait to find out who the authors are so I can go and read some more of their work (if I haven't already).
  • Identities will be announced next Sunday when the winners are also announced!

even with three votes it was hard!

Thank goodness we get to pick three, it would have been very tough to only get one vote
  • I figured with so many entries submitted, it would work better to let people pick their top three!
