The results are in! The poll is closed! This is the moment you’ve all been waiting for! We received over 100 votes, and the top three have been picked. (Confused? Bewildered? See the introductory post on the challenge here.)
An impressive 14 entries were up for voting, many disturbing, several fantastical, a few whimsical, and all entertaining.
Without further ado, here are the results for Ergofiction‘s first ever Search Term Challenge:

In third place, we have Quota by MCM, a slightly humorous tale of rationing in the bedroom. MCM is a lover of left socks and largely responsible for the bizarre tales over on 1889 Labs. |
|
In second place is The Last Brother by Merrilee Faber. Merrilee, winner of all previous rounds, challenged everyone to try knock her crown off… and someone succeeded! |
So who is it, you ask? Which story came first!? Okay, okay, I’ve prolonged this long enough:
![]() In first place, it’s Long Way Home by Chris “ruzkin” H-K, who has (as his website states) written his way to eventual success! Congratulations! Long Way Home particularly stood out from the other entries for it’s style: it is written as a series of letters from a man on an alien planet to his mother back on Earth. The voice is strong, the letters intriguing, and even though you know it’s going to end badly, there’s something compelling that forces you to keep reading. |
