April, I have no idea why Disqus eats your comments sometimes, alas the regular comments thing of this theme is even worse.
Anyway, of course I mention you! I mean Antonius is really, really bad. I like your subheadings, but it also makes me curious to what the subheading is of the still unmentioned fourth character :p

Well, Antonius is definitely a Psycho For Hire, or Sale since he's a slave, possibly Ax Crazy, and originally intended to be a Complete Monster aka psychopath (seriously, the subheading for the characters were: The Assassin, The Courtesan, and The Psychopath). I guess his only 'redeeming' quality is that he's effective, which really isn't that redeeming.

Decentius is intended to be a Magnificent Bastard, but sadly *I* am insufficiently Machiavellian to write him properly.

Yep, all my Shadows of Sicily protagonists fall into Villain Tropes. What can I say? It's not a happy story.
