Issue 0
The Where, the what and the why of webfiction
I’m very proud to announce the first issue of Ergofiction Magazine. As we’re still very much in Beta Month, this issue will be slightly different from the normal setup. That’s why it’s aptly titled Issue 0. Instead of a magazine issue it will (hopefully) read more as a manifest, a guide, or something in between. The December content will later be expanded on in the first Ergofiction e-book, which will be freely available to share with friends and family, in order to get the webfiction word out there.
Before I introduce the topics addressed in this issue, I’d like to take the chance to properly thank all early visitors. Your comments and remarks have been heartwarming, and though I feel slightly intimated by the high expectations that seem to have risen, I fully intend to meet them.
As said in my introduction and in the interview with A.M. Harte, the theme of this month’s issue is the basics of webfiction. Without further ado, here are this weeks article previews!
Dec. 3rd: What is webfiction…
The title pretty much explains itself, but in this article I’ll try to explain what webfiction is all about, what different terms and definitions are being used and why, and how to make sense of it all.
Dec. 10th: …why you should read it…
The many reasons why webfiction is great are explained in detail, including practical and less practical reasons. Next time you want to explain to your friends why you like webfiction, you can arm yourself with this article!
Dec. 14th: …and where you can find it!!
If I’ve convinced you that there should be something fun about it, this little guide will show you around the webfiction world. Directories, reviews and even some personal recommendations will be included. Only safe to read when you’ve got some free time on your hands, because once you start it can be hard to stop.
But there’s more
Once these basics are covered we’ll dive into the wonderful world of patronship, webfiction fandom and the social aspects of the format. Since some little parts still have to fall into place for this part, it wouldn’t be kosher to predict the dates on those articles. I can promise you one thing though, this will be where the real fun begins.
